Hey RealLightningFan,

As long as we are being d*cks about spelling, the words "didnt" and "dont" should have apostrophes. Just sayin'...

Hi Ann,

For the most part you are right. Granted hindsight helps and not all of the front office moves were unreasonable. Sure, the Boyle trade stunk, but surprisingly, half of Tampa fans don't like Boyle at all. Of course, they were probably the ones lamenting how we could get the puck up ice quickly, but I digress.

If I could change just one thing it would have been Melrose. He lacked the committment to do his job. The team wasted a season essentially. Stamkos' 2nd half awesomeness wasn't a coincidence, although the 3 games spent in the pressbox helped give perspective. But that's part of overall coaching. The lack of direction/system left my Melrose combined with unusual amount of defencemen injuries made Tocchet's job impossible.

Good luck next season.

RealLightningFan-

You sound like someone who has yet to realize how bad it is having a disfunctional ownership group. As an Islander fan, I can let you know, you are in for a crummy ride my friend. Stamkos = Stanley's . . . I don't think so. You can go ahead and jump on my team too, but get over it. Having an ownership strife sucks. Your team will sit at the bottom of the league for years to come. Deal with it.

Well, I'm sorry about the typo - although I believe that was the only time I spelled it wrong in the entire post. Sometimes a finger just slips, you know? And its fixed now, so don't you worry.

Let me just state straight-up that I'm not a Lightning fan - I'm a Sharks fan, which is why I put a little bit more focus on the Dan Boyle situation than you would. And while I do realize that the new ownership didn't sign Boyle to the contract extension, the way they went about trying to get rid of him was less than great.

While I admit to the fact of not watching as many Lightning games as you probably have - its hard with those 4PM start times - I have checked around online and have seen a majority of Lightning fans want to keep Vinny. Now, if I'm wrong about that, okay. I accept that. I'm just writing things as I see them, which apparently is from a different viewpoint than yours.

Oh, and just checked - the Lightning had five more OT/SO losses than any other team (aka the Toronto Maple Leafs), so you're right about the one goal thing.

And yes, I did know there were multiple investors (not the exact number, but that there were others). I'm just commenting on what is happening with the two public faces of ownership, especially with the news that Bettman awarded the decision-making power to Koules.

But anyways, thanks for your insight into the Lightning - it is hard to know the intricacies that make up a team without being a fan, and I appreciate your knowledge. Not so much the way you insulted me, but hell, this is the internet.

Ann,

You need to start off by spelling the LIGHTNING right, not Lightening.

Dan Boyle. Everyone is crying about Dan Boyle. Did he win the Stanley Cup this year? I think not. This ownership didnt even sign Boyle to his contract, it was Feaster.

Vinny, did he have a good season? No. Does a wrist injury and shoulder injury keep him from backchecking and hustling? NO, but he still didnt do either of those. If we got rid of him I dont think we could do any worse, but we could get an entire starting defense for him.

Ann, did you see how many picks that we have for the 09-10 draft? Besides the no. 2 pick?! A lot.

I can go on and on. Look at Stamkos who had a better rookie season than Vinny had, look at our farm system with our prospects. Vinny is not going to get any better, if anything his career is on a downfall. Our defense was plaqued with injuries, especially Mike Smith with his concussion. We dealt with all of this and probably had the record for the most overtime losses and one goal losses. They would have been wins if we had a healthier team.

Ann, I hope your not a Lightning fan, because you would be a disgrace to all of their fans.

Ownership. There is always drama with ownership. These two guys are like the Mark Cubans of the NHL. Everything they do gets flipped around in the press. Do you think they make every decision on who to trade and pick up? No, its goes a lot further then those two guys. Just so you know, there is a total of 9 investors with the Lightning. Those two are just the faces. I bet you didnt know that.

Do your research before you put a stupid post up like this again. By the way.. GO BOLTS BABY!!
